About Us

NZ SPEED Development Academy is based in Tauranga where the current crop of athletics speedsters have a remarkable record, i.e. 2013 NZ champs at senior men’s 100/200m, second in Men’s Under 20 200m, Under 20 100m, senior women’s 100m (from B.O.P.), Under 20 women, second & third in Under 18 women, and the first three in senior girls 100m at NZ Schools Champs, Dec 2012.

With the focus on maximum speed, functional agility, and speed endurance, we have compiled a list of successful coaches who can offer a consistent pattern of scientific advice to those with power and high velocity aspirations, nationwide.

To make contact with any of them, get in touch with the General Manager: kerry@nzspeed.co.nz with your specific needs and you will be directed to the most appropriate coach in your vicinity.

Conditioners Network:

We have a very wide range of team code conditioners and personal trainers with whom we are in regular communication in order to share with them the highly specific assistance in the particular disciplines mentioned above. They have worked (or still are) with professional rugby, league, football, hockey and netball teams in NZ, Australia, UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Japan, France, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Portugal, and USA.

But we also have significant success with individuals from varying positions in sports such as tennis, cricket, bobsleigh, gymnastics, golf, surf lifesaving, and softball.

We have made contact with an old friend, very old, Gluteus Mac. He has a long history with athletics dating from the 1970s when as a regular contributor to the “NZ Athlete” magazine, his unique observations on athletics were the cause of some humour and debate.

His near cousin, Back Row Bruiser, also surfaced overseas recently in rugby publications, so we expect to hear a little from him as well. Well known for low profiles but with avid insights into sport, they will certainly generate discussion. We suggest you don’t take either of them too seriously!
